3rd week: 15th-19th March 2010

Entering the third week of BeST Programme, there was a lot of activities which make me feel that this is the most exciting week compared to the previous week. On the first two days, we had mock interview by our trainer, Mr. Farizal and Mr. Khairul Najmi. The purpose is to train us how to answer the questions asked by the interviewer. We were interviewed based on our dream job, related activities during the campus life and the thesis that had been carried out. For me, this session was good in order to expose the trainees about Do's and Don'ts during the interview session.
On Wednesday, the session was Body Language for Presentation by Mrs. Fatimah Abu Bakar. It was an exciting session since the trainer herself was so sporting and very understanding besides the interesting presentation by her. We were asked to do a product or service presentation and try to convince and sell it to our potential customers or investors.
The next day, we had Grooming and Dining Etiquette session with an ex MAS-Stewardess, Mrs. Noraini Othman together with Mr. Farizal. During the morning session, we were taught about table manners and also the Do's and Don'ts. On the afternoon session, we were separated according to male and female group. The male group was lead by Mr. Farizal and the female grouwork. So that we will look more professional and be more confident with ourself.p by Mrs. Noraini. They showed us how to groom when attending an interview and going to work. So that we will look more professional and be more confident with ourself.

For the last day of this week, we continued our session with Advance Report Writing by Mrs. Norliza and Mrs. Nor Farahiyah. We were asked to come out with a questionaire based on BeST Programme and present the result on 29th of March.

2nd week-5th,8th-12th March 2010

We were given a briefing of introduction to biotechnology. More to welcome us into the biotechnology sector, all the trainers feel glad to teach and help us in understanding the biotechnology itself. Since this is the first week and the first month of BeST program, the first module to be taught is Communication module. Maybe some will think that this is a boring topic, but belief me, it is a very useful module in order to improve our communication concepts and skills.
Divided into groups, there are eight members in each group. We were asked to create our own group’s motto and logo. So, every group will have different logo with different motto which reflected the characteristic of the group itself.
During the class, we were taught on how to write a good resume and cover letter which is very important in applying jobs. It helps us to improve our writing skills. Besides, we were also taught by the trainers on business report writing.
Conducting an effective meeting also plays an important role in communication. Every group was asked to discuss a situation given and came out with a mock meeting and the agendas of the meeting.
On the other day, we had an activity where one group had to be a representative and the other group as the consumer or customer. They were asked to make comments and complaints based on the picture shown on the screen. The representative must gave a feedback in a proper way of communication.
For public speaking techniques, selected person were chosen and they have to present whether in a forum, press conference, product presentation, negotiation and debate. Everyone played a different role and talked according to the topic given.
